TWEAK FOUR
Bali Kernel (Flash with CWM)
For FROYO ONLY (KD1, NOT KF1/KF2)
Credit to: drhonk, grendel905, ttabbal, supercurio, neldar, Paul McKenny, hardcore, jdiddyub
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1080871
This is just like any other CWM ZIP file; just flash.
To flash using CWM, boot into recovery using a method such as holding the volume up and down button (on the left side of the phone) while holding the power button. After doing this, a screen should come up saying something like this...
Android system recovery <3e>
Samsung Recovery Utils
-FOR BML-
Using the volume up/down buttons, click down until you highlight "reinstall packages". Then hit the power button. If all goes well and a new, orange menu comes up you're good so far.
Now, scroll to "install zip from sdcard". Hit the power button.
Scroll to "choose zip from sdcard".
Browse your SD card until you find the file you already placed on there (the bali kernel, [probably] with the name BALI_SGS4G_v1.4UV.zip.)
Then a page with many "no"'s will come up. Scroll down to the one "Yes", and hit the power button.
Your screen will now start to show various images, text, etc. Ignore all of it and leave your phone until a screen saying the kernel was "successfully flashed" comes up.
You're good to go!
TWEAK FIVE
Overclocking with Tegrak on ANY ROM
(Froyo KD1, Gingerbread KF1/KF2)
Credit to: dsexton702
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1109170
Required: Tegrak Ultimate (Paid App), Fugu Tweak
1- Open Tegrak, and load the Overclock Module.
2- Click "Optimization Option", and click to edit "CPU Level 0" ONLY.
3- Change 1000mhz to 1500mhz.
4- Change Core Voltage to 1400.
5- Change Internal Voltage to 1175.
6- Go back to the main menu, and click "Scaling".
7- Change "Scaling Min" to 200mhz. Click Apply.
Note that on the latest version of Tegrak Ultimate, the "stability check" performed after setting the overclock Force-Closes, This is normal, and will hopefully be remedied by a future update.
It is suggested to slowly move up in overclock values. Start with these values and over time move up to 1.5GHZ.
Overclock Values..
1.4GHZ: Core Voltage=1375, Internal=1150
1.3GHZ: Core Voltage=1300, Internal=1125
1.2GHZ: Core Voltage=1225, Internal=1100
Tweak Six
GPS Fix
These steps are to fix any issues experienced with the GPS in either the Galaxy S 4G, or Vibrant. It *should* decrease the amount of time required to find/connect to satellites. This is only known to be effective on SOME Froyo ROMs.
Steps...
1- Download LauncherPro.
2- Tap and hold on your homescreen, and select shortcut.
3- Click Activities.
4- Scroll to LbsTestMode.
5- Tap the first one, LbsTestMode (with gray title, "com.sec.android.app.lbstestmode.LbsTestMode"
6- Click okay when "edit shortcut" comes up.
7- Open the shortcut.
8- Tap "SUPL/CP Settings"
9- Change the following fields to...
Server -> supl.google.com
Server Port -> 7276
SUPL Secure Socket -> OFF
AGPS Mode -> SUPL10- Click Back (it saves it)
11- Reboot your Phone.
12- Click Settings, then Location & Security.
13- Check "Use Wireless Networks"
14- Go to your Launcher, and open LbsTestMode again
15- Click "Delete GPS" Data
16- Exit the App, and close it with a task killer.
17- Open it again, and click "Get Position Test"
18- It might take a while for something to show up....but it eventually will. Let it run for about ten minutes straight.
19- Close the App again, and you should be good!
This is not a guranteed fix for the bad GPS in all Galaxy phones, though some users have reported dramatically better results.
Tweak Seven
Convert xfs Filesystem to ext4 (Performance Tweak)
Froyo Compatible Only
Credit to: dsexton702
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1123039
Required: CWM, Bali 2.1 Kernel Pre-Flashed, ext4 Converter (located in Downloads (above), or here)
1- Go into CWM, and make a backup of your current apps/etc. (go to "Backup and Restore")
2- Double-check the backup works by creating a second one.
3- Flash ext4 converter, located above in downloads, or here with CWM.
4- DO NOT REBOOT. NEXT, either restore your backup from before (either backup), or flash your new ROM. Note that the new ROM MUST HAVE THE BALI 2.1 Kernel (either UV or normal version of the kernel).
5- Before performing step four, if any special mounts are required for installation of your ROM, set them.
6- Reboot phone, and unlock it. Using the phone for about 10 minutes will set it to work correctly.
Quadrant results should be in the 2,000's compared to around 1400 before!
Using this tweak along with Fugu, Overclock, and Bloat Removal will result in 2200+!
